Design and build since 2007

Marc started on swimming pools in 2007, installing Myrtha and Astral Sky panel systems across Ireland alongside concrete tiled pools, saunas and steam rooms. A good deal of what we build today did not exist in that market then.

The wellness boom changed what people expect. Hot tubs and saunas stopped being luxury items and became affordable to the wider public, which meant the hotel and spa market had to extend its offering — the keenest wellness guests already had the old spa circuit sitting in their own back gardens. Hydrotherapy, infrared, red light therapy, ice treatment, snow rooms and cold plunge came into the standard offer. Pools got bigger and warmer, with jets, bubble seats and loungers built in, and chromotherapy lighting under the water.

The rooms changed as much as the equipment. Exposed red brick, tongue-and-groove ceilings and mid-blue mosaic gave way to Venetian polished plaster, microcement, polished stainless steel, brass and far more glass. Glass was traditionally the problem in a pool hall — it drove the air handling and everything downstream of it. Triple glazing, argon-filled panes and seamless framing with no cold bridging have largely solved that, and glass now works in pool halls, saunas and even steam rooms.

Tiling has moved to large-format porcelain and finely detailed mosaic, and granite, marble and travertine are now practical because milling and stone processing have caught up: a pool can have one-piece curved natural stone walk-in treads, custom stone edge tiles and deck-level channels. Finishes run from welded-on-site liners in a wide choice of colours and patterns, through porcelain laid on modern adhesive and epoxy systems, to plastered pebble-render. There is a cost-effective route to almost any look.

Sauna timber now comes from forests all over the world, which makes material selection and trusted supply partners more important rather than less. Replanting, low carbon and genuinely eco-friendly supply chains matter, to our clients and to us. On the energy side, solar, air source and ground source heat pumps have become central to how a pool is run — in private homes as much as in luxury hotel spas.

It is an industry that keeps moving, and that is the argument for experience. We have been on site since 2007 and we know how an efficient site runs: how to work reliably alongside the main contractor, the M&E team, electricians, plumbers and landscapers. Design is what enables all of them. Get it right early and the build runs safely and to programme; get it wrong and every trade that follows pays for it.

Design & Build

We design the pool and then we build it. Concept design and layout, engineering of the shell and structure, plant room and water treatment design, then the build itself: groundworks, shell, pipework, plant, mechanical and electrical, tiling and finishes, fit-out, commissioning and handover. One contract, one point of responsibility, and the same people who drew it standing in the plant room when it is switched on. We work as the main contractor for the pool and wellness package, or alongside yours where a main contractor is already appointed.

Included: consultation and site appraisal · concept and detailed design · structural and shell engineering · plant room and water treatment design · groundworks and shell · pipework, plant, mechanical and electrical · tiling, lining and finishes · fit-out, commissioning and handover

Refurbishment & Upgrades

Most older pools do not need replacing — they need bringing up to date. We refurbish tired pools and spas: new tiling or lining, new filtration and circulation, ceramic filter media, automated dosing and control, LED and chromotherapy lighting, and heat pumps or heat recovery to bring running costs down. Plant rooms can be stripped out and rebuilt without disturbing the pool itself. We also convert underused rooms into saunas, steam rooms, ice rooms and salt chambers. Every refurbishment starts with a survey and a straight report on what is worth keeping and what is not.

Included: survey and condition report · new tiling, lining or render · filtration, circulation and ceramic media · automated dosing and control · LED and chromotherapy lighting · heat pumps and heat recovery · full plant room replacement · conversions to sauna, steam, ice and salt rooms

Maintenance & Servicing

A pool is only as good as the care it gets. We service and maintain pools and wellness suites, on a planned contract or as you need us: water testing and balancing, filter and media changes, pump, heater and dosing servicing, sauna and steam maintenance, and repairs. Where the plant supports it we can monitor water quality remotely, so problems are picked up long before they close the pool.

Included: planned or as-needed servicing · water testing and balancing · filter and media changes · pump, heater and dosing servicing · sauna and steam maintenance · repairs and fault finding · remote water analysis where the plant supports it

How a project runs

1. First conversation — Free and without obligation. We talk through how you want to use the space, what is realistic on the site, and roughly what it will cost. The earlier we are involved, the more we can save you in design time and cost.

2. Survey and concept — We visit, measure and survey, then put a concept and an outline budget in front of you: layout, pool size and depth, plant room location, and how the wellness rooms sit together as a circuit.

3. Detailed design and proposal — Structure, plant room, water treatment, materials and finishes resolved into a full specification, with setting-out drawings, a programme and a fixed price.

4. Groundworks and shell — Excavation, structure and waterproofing. This is the stage that decides whether everything after it is straightforward or difficult, so it gets the most attention.

5. Plant, pipework and finishes — Circulation, filtration, heating and control installed and tested, then tiling, lining and fit-out. This is the stage that lives or dies on coordination with the main contractor, M&E, electricians, plumbers and landscapers.

6. Commissioning, handover and aftercare — Water balanced, plant commissioned, everything demonstrated and documented, and a maintenance arrangement in place if you want one.

Who we work with

Private clients — Homeowners creating a pool, spa or wellness suite as part of a new house, an extension or a garden. You get one point of contact, plain advice, and complete discretion: we never publish photographs of a client's home.

Architects and design teams — We come in as the pool and wellness specialist, providing drawings and specifications in a form that goes straight into your package, coordinating with the M&E consultant and main contractor through the build, and taking on the pool and wellness package as builder where that suits the project.

Hotels, resorts and spas — Pools, thermal suites and complete wellness circuits designed to commercial and PWTAG standards, with the plant, ventilation and water treatment to match, and procurement and installation managed through to opening.

Existing pool owners — Refurbishment, plant upgrades, energy-saving improvements, maintenance and repairs, and remote water analysis, for pools we did not build as well as those we did.
